Having been identified as having strong autistic traits, my NHS therapist submitted a referral for NHS ASD assessment. I was screened in for assessment, but advised that the NHS adult waiting list is about 5 years. As someone in their mid 50s, I felt that I did not want to wait another 5 years to get answers to who I really am, and despite trepidation about high costs for private assessment, decided to look into that option.
From searching 'Adult autism assessment' and reading recommendations from a workplace forum, I found The Divergent Path and put out initial tentative feelers, being reluctant to commit a large sum for something that may draw a blank. The difference with The Divergent Path (apart from the reasonable pricing) was the two stage/two payment process, allowing patients to be able to gauge if the full assessment (and second payment) is warranted. In my case it was, and resulted in a fully explained diagnosis and suggested means of support, with comprehensive report forwarded to my GP (at my request).
From the outset, all correspondence and contact was dealt with swiftly, honestly and sympathetically, with Gaynor providing so much useful advice and guidance. It is no exaggeration to say that I feel the resultant diagnosis will be life-changing for me and will help me to self-advocate and to establish self-supporting strategies moving forward.
Thank you so much Gaynor, and The Divergent Path.
Gaynor is an amazing clinician who diagnosed my adult son with ASD & ADHD. She came recommended by my sons Consultant Psychiatrist.
From start to finish, Gaynor was professional whilst being very gentle and knowledgeable. She put my son (and myself)at ease right from the beginning. For my son who has social phobia and anxiety, communicating with a total stranger was an easy process with Gaynor. Normally, he would not want to do so but Gaynor was very adept in assessing my son.
Gaynor also answered all our questions (I had lots of them!) and worked hard (even through the weekend and late evenings) to get the assessments and reports ready in time.
I would highly recommend Gaynor and ‘The Divergent Path’ without any hesitation if you are considering getting assessed. She is extremely accommodating and helpful.
Thank you Gaynor.
Process was seamless from the initial enquiry, right through to the assessment and finalising the report. Gaynor is professional, very knowledgeable and an expert in this field. The thoroughness of the pre-screening questionnaires, full assessment and reports from both of these, was so helpful in understanding all aspects and what they mean. Great service all round. 😊
Gaynor recently assessed our teenage son for ASD/ADHD .....
He knew there was something different about himself and could not settle, so we agreed to go private and get an assessment in the hope that this will enable our son to thrive and have a better understanding of himself moving forward into adult life.
Gaynor is very knowledgeable in the work that she does, Gaynor gave us tips/strategies to best support and help our son, also for himself.
Gaynor made my son feel very relaxed and at ease considering that it was the first meeting.
We had two seperate meetings altogether at home.
We hope that now we know what we are dealing with on a day to day basis as a family, we can have a better understanding of our son and support him wherever needed.
I urge anyone who is thinking....... something is just not right to make contact with Gaynor....it could change your life for the better! 😊
Thankyou Gaynor ......Your a star!!
Gaynor did an ASD assessment for my partner (in his late 20's) recently and it has been one of the best things he has ever done for himself. For the last few years of our relationship we had really struggled to get along, not for lack of love, but for lack of understanding. My partner couldn't understand how some of the things he was doing were because he had no coping techniques for the stress he was feeling in every day life. Once Gaynor assessed him and gave him his diagnosis he finally understood himself and how to help himself cope with the world better. Therefore, cope with a relationship better too. This also improved him as a dad, which for me is one of the best outcomes possible. I am so grateful for Gaynor, as she was patient, kind and very helpful throughout the whole process. I couldn't recommend Gaynor enough! My partner only wishes he had done it sooner. Thank you for everything Gaynor! Forever grateful.
